What is UTC A&E?
Urgent treatment centres (UTCs) are GP-led, open at least 12 hours a day, every day, offer appointments that can be booked through 111 or through a GP referral, and are equipped to diagnose and deal with many of the most common ailments people attend A&E for. All UTC services will be considered a Type 3 A&E.

Why is it called Charing Cross Hospital?
Charing Cross Hospital was founded by Dr Benjamin Golding in October 1818. The origins of the hospital can be traced to a meeting at Golding’s home to discuss setting up a charitable institution to be known as the West London Infirmary, located near the Strand in Charing Cross.

Can you go to a doctors that isn’t yours?
Legally, any person living in the UK (i.e. any person who is not in the UK for a short visit/ holiday) may register with a GP. You do not need to be a British citizen, or to have lived in the country for a certain time. However, you can only register with a GP who is located near you, rather than any GP you like.
