How do I get an ICC certificate?
In most countries, you can get an ICC by getting the right national boating licenses. After that, you can simply apply for an ICC with the right authorities. OR you automatically get the ICC, if it’s integrated with the national license. For example, in The Netherlands, you simply obtain Boat License I + II.
Is day skipper the same as ICC?
The ICC requirement covers both inshore and coastal waters of participating nations and use of both sail and motor vessels including personal watercraft. Holders of the RYA Day Skipper Practical Certificate or higher may apply to the RYA for an ICC without further study or assessment.
Do RYA certificates expire?
Most RYA Sailing certificates are valid for life once you have met the required standard and been granted the certificate. This goes for the spectrum of certificates from RYA Competent Crew to RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean.

How many times can you take the ICC Test?
You will have six exam attempts within a six-month period. You are responsible for paying the exam fee at every attempt. Once you have attempted an exam six times, you must wait six months from the first attempt to register again.

How much does ICC certification cost?
The course fee is $895.00 for any format and includes instruction and access to any webinar/recorded webinar(s) and online simulated exams (bring your own exam references) UNTIL YOU PASS YOUR EXAMS. Students must have their own code or other reference material required for the test.
Do I need an ICC?
The ICC is essential and recommended if you want to sail Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey, for example. However, obtaining your ICC doesn’t mean you don’t have to do any homework before you head off for your sailing destination.
