What is A4LD transmission?
The A4LD was a modification of the C3. It has four speeds, achieved primarily by adding an overdrive gear. The C3 did not have this gear. The A4LD first saw use in North America in the Ford Bronco II and the Ford Ranger, both of which were developed in 1985.

Indeed Dexron III/Mercon compatible is what you want. Not ATF+4. Chrysler has a habit of superceding the fluids specified by the original manufacturer with something that they can get for very cheap.
Can you mix dexron III and dexron VI?
Try not to mix DEXRON-III with DEXRON-VI, only because if you do that you are in fact diluting the DEXRON-VI fluid with a less stable product and therefore throwing away much of the advantage. All you need to remember is that DEXRON-VI is far superior to DEXRON-III.
Can you mix dexron 3 and ATF 4?
