What is a braze on Mount?

Braze on mounts are commonly riveted or bolted to road frames. This is the more common form of road front derailleur mounting and can be made compatible with frames needing a band clamp too. Braze-on derailleurs just feature a small nub with an internal thread to accept a mounting bolt.

Do pannier racks fit all bikes?

With the right equipment you can fit panniers to a bike that isn’t designed to take them. Some bikes – tourers, most hybrids, and many gravel bikes, for example – have the threaded frame eyelets required for a rear pannier rack: two high on the seatstays, others down by the dropouts. Many road and mountain bikes don’t.

What’s the difference between braze on and clamp on derailleur?

A clamp-on has a metal clamp that wraps around the tube of a frame that does not have a built-in mounting tab for the front derailleur. Braze-on derailleurs can be mounted to frames that do not have a mounting tab, using an adapter.

What is the difference between braze on and band on?

Are all pannier racks the same size?

The most common size is around 40 litres of storage (per pair of panniers). You can run front panniers on rear racks but there’s not much reason to. You can also get larger volume panniers – up to a whopping 80 litres per bag – but they’re a bit niche.

How do you attach a pannier rack?

  4. Prepare the top strap (if present).
  5. Fold the pannier bag and secure the buckles.

What is a Mik rack?

The MIK (Mounting is Key) rack system is a revolutionary key installed rack system that locks your bag to your bike rack, making it hard for thieves to steal but easy for you to remove. To put your bag on your bike, simply slide the bag onto the rack until you hear a “click” and then remove the key.
