FRP stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic. It Is a material that is made up of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibers. At Piping Technology, we provide FRP wear pads that are fabricated from FRP pipe. These pads are secured to pipes using an epoxy adhesive.

How many types of pipe support we use?

What are the materials used for sliding wear pad?
For most sliding wear pad applications, Nylon 6 or UHMW-PE is the right choice. Acetal can be used for applications in chemicals or water. PET and Phenolic can be used at higher loads.
How are reinforcement pad dimensions calculated?

- Thickness = same thickness as the run pipe, with a min. of 3 mm and a max. of 20 mm.
Is FRP stronger than PVC?
Section 4.7 of AWWA C950 lists the upper limit for FRP pipe’s “Stiffness Class” as 72 psi. In contrast, AWWA C900 has an upper PS limit of 815 psi for PVC pipe. This means that PVC has a lower deflection under the same load. As well, PVC has a higher limit of deflection at 7.5% compared to 5% for FRP.
