What does a big head wastegate do?
BigHead holds the wastegate closed for quicker boost, then controls the opening to maintain peak boost for superior acceleration and mid-range pulling power. Under high-boost conditions, the stock actuator’s weak spring allows the wastegate to blow open, limiting midrange torque.
What does blocking the wastegate do?
IF you block off the waste gate you are basically running without a wastegate. Without a wastegate you will over work the turbo, create too much boost, and can damage the turbo and the engine.
Does a 7.3 Powerstroke have a wastegate?
The stock turbo does not have a wastegate it has an exhaust backpressure valve to aid in warm up.
What does a banks big head actuator do?
Banks BigHead Wastegate Actuator keeps the valve seated longer and achieves a higher peak boost, sooner. you crisp acceleration and more mid-range pulling power.
What is boost creep?
Boost creep is defined as a condition of rising boost levels past what the predetermined level has been set at. For example, if your target boost level is 15psi, you would see the boost levels increase beyond that as RPMs increase.
How do you adjust the bank big head wastegate lb7?
IIRC you remove the heat shield, then remove the nut that holds the actuator arm to the waste gate. Make one full turn on the actuator arm turn then using compressed air on the banks big head to open the actuator back up to ease putting the nut back on the arm. reinstall the heat shield and test drive.
What is turbo dump?
A blow-off valve (BOV), dump valve or compressor bypass valve (CBV) is a pressure release system present in most turbocharged engines. Its main purpose is to take the load off the turbocharger when the throttle is suddenly closed.
Why is boost creep bad?
The major issue with boost creep is the boost uncontrollably rising and maxing out the fuel system. Maxing out the fuel system will cause the car to lean out and misfire at high rpm and potentially reach failure.
