What can I expect at Job Corps orientation?
Orientation. Your first day at the Job Corps Center will involve an orientation, in which you’ll be introduced to other participants, shown around your new home and assigned duties. You’ll be assigned a schedule for classes and have a chance to ask questions about your new living arrangements.
What can you not bring to Job Corps?
At most centers, you are responsible for providing your own everyday clothes. Articles of clothing with offensive wording, large amounts of jewelry, or items that promote drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or violence are not allowed. Many centers require students to wear uniforms during the training day.
Can you leave on weekends at Job Corps?
Job Corps staff members will assess each student’s ability to have a weekend pass away from the center. If a student has disciplinary problems or has failed an important assignment, his weekend privileges may be taken away. Strong performers may be granted permission to leave for the entire weekend.
Do you have to wear uniform at Job Corps?
We do not require a specific uniform for students. You are responsible for providing your own clothes, but we have a clear set of expectations for student dress and personal appearance. Also, we expect our students to dress appropriately for their chosen career training fields.
What is Job Corps curfew?
Curfews are enforced for residents and these curfews include what time the residents are to wake up and be out of the dorm. Students are not to leave their clothes when doing their laundry; they must remain in the laundry room until their laundry is finished.
What can I bring to Job Corps?
These include shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash and deodorant. Job Corps students should also bring implements used to maintain hygiene such as razors, combs, any needed hair appliances such as dryers and curlers, toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products.
