How do I get IGETC certification?
To request a certification, submit an official transcript request to the Student Records Office and indicate that you need certification with the transcript. Mark the GE Breadth or IGETC certification box on the transcript request form. IGETC certification can only be mailed directly to the transfer school.
Is IGETC a good idea?
Completing IGETC fulfills the UC general ed requirements. The good thing about IGETC is once you complete it, you are good to go at every UC. The University of California honors the certificate, meaning you will have fulfilled all the general education courses for every UC and every department/college.
Do I have to finish IGETC?
IGETC is not an admission requirement. Completing it does not guarantee admission to the campus or program of choice.
What happens if you dont complete IGETC?
Once you start IGETC you are required to complete it, preferably before transfer. If it is not completed by the time you transfer to a UC you will have to fulfill the remaining lower division general education courses (or even repeat them). You must complete the remaining courses at the UC.

Yes. Courses used to satisfy the IGETC requirements may be double counted toward preparation for major requirements except for individual campus restrictions.
Can one course satisfy two requirements?
Some Gen Ed courses are approved for two categories. However, an individual student will be able to use a particular course to fulfill only one requirement. For courses tagged for two requirements, you will be able to choose which requirement you would like to use it to complete.
Can I complete IGETC in summer?
You can only complete IGETC at your CCC the summer before your first UC term. After you start the UC, you cannot go back to any CCC to complete it.
