How does a double check detector assembly work?
Double check detector assembly or “DCDA” means an assembly which consists of two independently operating check valves which are spring-loaded or weighted. The assembly comes complete with a shut-off valve on each side of the checks, as well as test cocks to test the checks for tightness.
Why is my backflow valve leaking?
Another cause for a leaking backflow preventer is incorrect placement in the head assembly. If it is placed upstream from a timer and the system is not being used but the hose is on, pressure will build up, which can damage the backflow preventer. To relieve some of the pressure, water will leak from the relief holes.
What is a double detector check?
Double Check Detector Assemblies are designed to prevent backflow of non-health hazard substances from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply. Certain models have a meter to detect ground leaks and unauthorized illegal taps.
Are Wilkins and Zurn the same?
Zurn acquired Wilkins in 1972. Now, our Zurn Wilkins product line covers fire protection, connected products, and every valve and backflow preventer in between.
When should a double check valve be used?
A double check valve is used for fluid category 3 protection, where there is a risk of substances of low toxicity such as common disinfectants.
Does a double check valve reduce pressure?
A double check valve or double check assembly (DCA) is a backflow prevention device designed to protect water supplies from contamination. Secondly the closure of one valve reduces the pressure differential across the other, allowing a more reliable seal and avoiding even minor leakage.
How long do backflow valves last?
How often does my backflow preventer need to be tested? Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assembly needs to be tested annually and rebuilt every 5 years. Double Check Valve (DCV) assembly needs to be tested every 3 years.
