There is so much empty space on Vancouver Island that you’ll find plenty of opportunity for wild camping. However, with all the forestry rec sites around, it’s hardly necessary. This was one of our wild camping spots, near Strathcona Provincial Park, right in the centre of Vancouver Island.
Can you camp for free on Vancouver Island?
One place rife with free camping is northern Vancouver Island. They tend to be concentrated around the area north of Campbell River, and located on or near rec-friendly lakes.
