Can you be Thane of Windhelm?
After completing the “Reunification of Skyrim” quest, Brunwulf Free-Winter will become Jarl of Windhelm. The Dragonborn must speak to Brunwulf, and Brunwulf will offer the title of Thane contingent on them helping five people of Windhelm and purchasing Hjerim from Brunwulf’s steward.
How do you become Thane of Windhelm Stormcloaks?
Stormcloak questline. After progressing through the questline “Liberation of Skyrim”, the Dragonborn will need to complete “Rescue from Fort Neugrad”, liberating Falkreath from the Empire. Upon doing so, Ulfric Stormcloak will give the Dragonborn the option to become a Thane of Eastmarch.
How do you unlock the house in Hjerim?
Completing “Rescue from Fort Neugrad” (for the Stormcloaks), or the full Civil War questline for the Imperials is necessary to purchase this house. Upon becoming a Thane of Eastmarch, a housecarl, Calder, will be assigned by the Jarl to look after Hjerim and serve the new Thane.
Can you be Thane of solitude and Windhelm?
Yes. The only Hold which you cannot become thane of without choosing sides in the Civil War is Windhelm.
Why can’t ti buy house Windhelm?
You need to start or complete the quest Blood on the Ice (In order to purchase the upgrades for the house the quest must be completed.). Blood on the Ice is a quest initiated in Windhelm. In order to start it you must have entered and exited Windhelm at least three times.
What happens to Windhelm after Ulfric dies?
After Ulfric is dead, Tullius and Rikke will head outside. Follow them out and watch as Tullius gives a speech to the assembled Imperial soldiers, thanking them for their service. After the completion of this quest, the Imperials will install a new Jarl, Brunwulf Free-Winter.
